Site-directed mutagenesis studies

So far, 16 residues have been investigated by site-directed mutagenesis.

These residues are: Glu6, Glu22, Trp28, Glu36, Asp37, Asp40, Thr45, Asp57, His90, Trp101, Asp145, Val148, Arg190, Glu197, Arg205, and Trp227. Residues to which specific functions could be attributed will be discussed in the next three sections.
