Mme Tatjana Leblanc is a professor at the department of industrial design of the University of Montreal. She is an expert in Project Management, Perception and Experience in Design, Product Semantics, and interdisciplinary design approaches. She founded in 2009 the GRAD research group, which is focusing on user interface design, intelligent living environments and design for the aging. She collaborates with the DOMUS laboratory of the University of Sherbrooke and the TSA Chair of the UQTR in several research projects that focus on Assistive Technology Design for people with intellectual deficiencies.
Prior to joining the academic community, Prof. Leblanc worked at European and North American design consultancies as designer, project manager and director where she developed an expertise in brand language and product innovation while specializing in mobile telecommunication and user-interface/ user interaction design, medical equipment design, and office furniture system design. Her client list includes: France Télécom, Alcatel, LG Electronics, Kontron Instruments, Siemens, Sansen, Hill-ROM, and many others. For her work, Professor Leblanc received several prestigious design awards. She holds a number of patents, among them for pulmonary therapy equipment that she conceived for the medical equipment manufacturer Hill-Rom. She continues to work for industrial and public companies such as Hydro-Quebec, STM and Johnson & Johnson Inc where she helps put with success her research findings into practice.
Prof. Leblanc studied industrial design in Germany at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee, and obtained her graduate degree from the Ohio State University, USA.
