Born in Montreal in 1961, I did my B.Sc. at the Université de Montréal between 1980 and 1983. Larry Weiler took me on as an NSERC summer student in 1982 and I decided to come back to UBC to complete my Ph.D. which I obtained in April 1988. I took my Post-doctoral Fellowship to Sherbrooke to work for Pierre Deslongchamps from 1988 to the summer of 1990. I left for the West Coast in July of that same year to begin my career as an assistant professor at the University of Victoria. In January 1995, The University of Sherbrooke lured me back where I still enjoy managing a wonderful group of students. I am full Professor since June 2000. I was chairman of the department between January 2002 and June 2005. I am now serving a term as vice-dean research. I am the father of three wonderful children: Philippe, 18, is in 2nd year of CEGEP studying to become a policeman. This line of work is fit for him and he is passionate about it. Phil also loves hockey and playing guitare. His brother Erick, 16, has started grade 5 at College Mont Ste-Anne. He also loves hockey but above all, he loves playing guitar. Both guys are excellent students of music and regularly play in rock concerts and such. Their sister Crysta, 12, loves school (1st year junior high at College Sacré Coeur). She does gymnastics at a competitive level now. Last year she qualified for the Provincial competitions. |
