Wiki manual for the CIMEL sunphotometer
From CIMEL
|
This wiki document is dedicated to the improvement and diffusion of technical and scientific information useful to site managers, network managers and scientists who process, employ or facilitate the acquisition of CIMEL sunphotometer data from NASA's AERONET (AErosol RObotic NETwork) global network[AERONET]. The motivation for this document came out of the Polar AOD and AERONET subnetworks workshop held at St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada in the spring of 2007 [[1]]. The participants at that workshop expressed a strong desire to see an improvement in the quantity and quality of existing documentation related to the CIMEL sunphotometer.
What started out as a rather pedantic concept based on pre-internet editorial paradigms soon evolved into a much more interactive wiki page where the whole community of users could contribute dynamically to the creation of the manual, using the best that web technology has to offer (links, videos, images, etc). It was strongly felt that this manual should not duplicate documentation which was well done elsewhere but rather that it be should be focussed on new contributions or on the improvement of less well documented aspects of CIMEL sunphotometry. Links to good documentation sources such as AERONET's web page are thus employed in the current version and are encouraged in future contributions.
