Museums

• J. Armand Bombardier, Snowmobile museum : (60 mins) J.A. Bombardier was born a few kilometers away, in Valcourt; inventor of the snowmobile, and founder of Bombardier, which has become a transportation conglomerate  in trains, airplanes and recreational vehicules; the Bombardier family is still very active in the Eastern Townships.

Food, wine and spirits

• The sale of wine and spirits is managed by the Société des alcools du Québec.  The best and closest store is in Magog; a very nice selection from all over the world, and from the local producers of wine and cider.
• Yes, wines are produced in the Eastern Townships, even in this rough continental climate.  Look out for ice wine, a world-class sweet wine.

• Charlevoix : great skiing (best in Québec : Mont Ste-Anne and Massif de Charlevoix)
• Gaspésie : the true meaning of winter = Parc de la Gaspésie, where you can stay at the wonderful Gite du Mont Albert
• Laurentides : Mont-Tremblant  is a world class ski resort (but very busy!)
